The last of the season's apples :( While I've never denied myself before, I'm committed to seasonal eating and, let's face it, they don't taste nearly as good as the weather heats up. And just imagine how joyous it will be when they return next year!
BMcG - the concept of a detox with beer has had me chuckling (oh if you only knew! :)
Dani - there is a deliciousness about having free reign again when compromising your favourites in the name of domestic harmony. I have a toss up of gorging myself on all that I have missed while I have been away this weekend while the SE takes off for his tour of duty or starting the annual spring clean (sans beer). Hmmmm I think pad thai prawns might win out at this point.
Fi - I shudder to think of those 10 month old apples bought in supermarket but worse most of the people who consumed probably didn't know what a fresh apples should taste like. Now that really worries me. I do think going seasonal is worth it. Just think of the first mango and strawberries of summer. Ah bliss!
...almost home, well if the flight leaves as schedule I'm too afraid to actually check the departure board yet after the horror delays on the the way over.
my cupboards feel empty of fresh fruit and veg so hope I will have some of these tomorrow - just returned from hobart where I have eaten out quite enough - found your notes on your recent trip useful - thanks!

Nothing too exciting. A lot of cabbage, brussel sprouts and greenery.
It's been a detox week...but with beer.
anything and everything the Bread Winner doesn't like. Gotta take advantage while he's not around.
(that translates as brussel sprouts, orange vegetables and offal)
